Terms of Use

Last updated: 19 September 2026

Using You What?

You What? is a football prediction and banter app for private friend groups. You make calls on takes (predictions and opinions about football outcomes), and the app scores you based on real-world results.

By using You What?, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

You must use the app lawfully and use appropriate, non-abusive display names and league names.

Predictions on You What? are for fun and league competition only. You What? does not provide betting, gambling, odds, or cash prize mechanics of any kind. No money is ever wagered, staked, or paid out based on take outcomes.

Independence and third-party rights

You What? is an independent football game and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any football league, governing body, or club. Competition and club names are used for identification only. All third-party trade marks remain the property of their respective owners.

Eligibility

You What? is intended for users aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, you must be at least 13 years old and have a parent or guardian’s permission to use the app.

Accounts and moderation

You are responsible for keeping your account details secure, and for all activity that happens under your account.

We may remove inappropriate display names or league names, remove users from leagues, suspend or delete accounts, or remove content, where reasonably necessary to protect the app and its users.

Anyone in a private league can invite others using the league's invite code. You can leave a league you're a member of at any time.

Community rules

Be respectful. Don't harass, threaten, bully, abuse, or target other players with hateful or discriminatory language.

Keep display names, league names, and anything else you share through the app appropriate. Don't impersonate other people, or use offensive, sexually explicit, misleading, or discriminatory names.

Play fairly. Don't exploit bugs, try to manipulate the leaderboard, create abusive duplicate accounts, interfere with another account, or misuse invite codes.

Predictions and scoring

Takes resolve based on real-world football results. Voting closes at the time stated on each take. Points reward calls that go against the majority — the fewer people across the app, globally, who agreed with you, the more a correct call is worth. We don't publish the exact scoring formula, but the underlying principle is explained in the app's Help section.

Leaderboard position is based on a combined rating that factors in your win rate and the points you've earned, rewarding both consistency and bold calls. We don't publish the exact formula, but the underlying principle is explained in the app's Help section. Ties are broken by number of resolved takes, then username alphabetically.

Availability

You What? is a small, independently-run project. We aim to keep it available, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted access, and features may change, be added, or be removed as the app develops.

Account termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to You What? at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you've broken these terms or the community rules above. You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time from your Profile.

No warranty

You What? is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose. Use it at your own discretion.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, You What? and its developers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage arising from your use of the app. This doesn't limit any liability that can't legally be excluded.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app, payments, or app-store setup changes. We'll update the "last updated" date above when we do. Continuing to use the app after changes means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales.
